The Scandi Flat is for anyone furnishing a first flat or a small rented room and trying to make it feel calm and finished without a big budget, a van full of flat-pack furniture, or permission to touch the walls. Most of the advice out there is written for people who own their home and can drill wherever they like. This site starts from the opposite brief: rented, small, and temporary — and works out what actually fits that.
Who this is for
Readers here are usually moving into their first flat, downsizing into a smaller rented room, or furnishing a place they know they'll leave again in a year or two. Deposits matter, so "rental-friendly" isn't a marketing word on this site — it's a hard filter. If a product needs drilling into a wall, needs a van to collect, or won't survive a second move, that's said plainly in the article rather than glossed over.
How recommendations are made
Nothing on this site has been lab-tested, and articles don't claim otherwise. Recommendations are reasoned picks: built from published specifications, materials, dimensions, and what the product is actually designed to do, cross-checked against the real constraints of a small rented room — floor clearance, stair access, weight limits, noise through thin walls. Where a spec isn't publicly confirmed, the article says so rather than guessing a number.
Every buying guide also names at least one product it doesn't recommend, and why. A guide where everything scores five stars isn't useful — it's an advert, and this site tries hard not to be one.
